Behind The Design
The new Sydney office is located on the top two floors of a beautiful elliptical tower, located in the heart of Sydney’s business district. The deeply branded LEED Platinum space fully embraces nature as an inspiration, and includes reception and pantry areas, conference and training rooms, broadcast facilities, office space, and support spaces.
The beauty of the site, with Australia’s rich history of embracing the aesthetic role of the natural landscape, and the complex geometries of the building served as important frameworks for the design. In addition to the deep connection to the outdoors, the location’s large terrace, position at the top of the building, and striking harbor views inspired the design approach of a “tree house” in the sky. The terrace intentionally serves as an extension of the interior, allowing for the office’s employees to be more fully integrated with nature and regularly exposed to the desirable Sydney climate. The project’s LEED-CI Platinum score of 89 is the highest ever awarded in Australia, and exemplary performance has been achieved for SSc3.1, EAc1.4, and WEc1.0, all of whose baseline credit requirements were exceeded by the project team.
