Behind The Design
The former beauty supply space now houses custom workstations for their editorial team, two shooting and interview rooms, glass fronted offices, meeting rooms, and breakout spaces plus a retail space on the ground floor and a mezzanine lounge. The furnishings at Buzzfeed’s New York office, also by JIDK, are done in a contemporary Danish style, and when designing the Los Angeles office, the design team decided to incorporate a California Eames Mid-century style into this concept to complement the sunny locale. Los Angeles-based Eames purveyor Modernica proved an excellent resource. The exterior neon signs are a nod to the infamous El Coyote restaurant’s signage across the street.
